2026 Kawasaki Teryx H2 recall: what's actually wrong, who's affected, and what to do

If you own a 2026 Teryx H2 — the supercharged four- or five-seat one — there's a recall on it. Kawasaki issued it on June 11, 2026. Here's the whole thing in plain terms.

What's wrong

The drive converter sheave — the moveable half of the CVT clutch — can break under certain conditions. When it does, it throws metal fragments inside the engine compartment. Kawasaki reported 19 incidents of sheave breakage to the CPSC. No injuries have been reported.

That's a serious failure on a 250-horsepower supercharged machine. Kawasaki's instruction is to stop using the vehicle until it's repaired. What changed this summer is that the repair is now available at dealers. The stop-use instruction hasn't changed.

Which machines

Model year 2026 only. Three model numbers:

  • KRT1000D — Teryx4 H2
  • KRT1000F — Teryx4 H2 Deluxe eS
  • KRT1000G — Teryx5 H2 Deluxe eS

About 3,585 units, sold at Kawasaki dealers from June 2025 to January 2026. The only way to know whether yours is in it is a VIN check. Don't assume you're clear because of when you bought it.

The fix

Free, at any authorized Kawasaki dealer. The technician will:

  1. Replace the moveable clutch sheave assembly
  2. Install a clutch cover guard
  3. Reprogram the ECU

All three are part of the recall. If your dealer only mentions one, ask about the other two.

How to check yours

Kawasaki is contacting registered owners directly. If you bought used, or the machine was registered to a previous owner, don't wait for the letter.

One thing we're not going to do

We sell a heavy-duty CVT belt for the Teryx H2. Don't buy one because of this recall. The recall is the sheave, and the dealer fixes it free. If your belt needs replacing down the road, we're here — but don't let a recall talk you into parts you don't need.
