Shopping a Teryx H2 this fall? The recall, the new two-seater, and the 74-inch question
Share
Kawasaki now sells the supercharged Teryx H2 two ways. There are the 2026 Teryx4 H2 and Teryx5 H2 that came out last year, and there's a new 2027 Teryx H2 two-seater. If you're shopping either one, new or used, sort out two things before you sign: the recall, and the width.
The recall covers the 2026 four- and five-seaters
In June, Kawasaki and the CPSC recalled the 2026 Teryx4 H2 and Teryx5 H2, model numbers KRT1000D, KRT1000F and KRT1000G. That's about 3,585 machines, sold from June 2025 to January 2026. The drive converter sheave in the CVT can break and throw metal fragments inside the engine compartment. Kawasaki had 19 reports of breakage and no injuries. The repair is free at a dealer: a new moveable sheave assembly, a clutch cover guard, and an ECU reprogram. Full details here.
The CPSC notice names only those three 2026 model numbers. The 2027 two-seater isn't on it. We couldn't find a Kawasaki statement on whether it ships with the updated sheave and guard. If that matters to you, get the dealer's answer in writing on the quote.
Buying a used 2026 Teryx4 or Teryx5 H2
This is where the recall actually matters. The CPSC instruction is to stop using a recalled machine until it's repaired, and a private seller may not know about the recall or may not mention it.
- Run the VIN at kawasaki.com → Owner Center → Recalls, or call Kawasaki at 855-878-4217, before any money changes hands.
- Ask for the dealer's repair order showing the recall work was done, all three parts: sheave, guard and ECU.
- Ask whether it was ridden after the stop-use notice, and whether a sheave ever broke on it. If one did, ask what else got repaired. Fragments go somewhere.
- If the recall work hasn't been done, the repair is still free. Get it done before you ride the machine home.
Buying a leftover 2026 off a dealer floor? Do the same check: ask to see the completed recall work on the paperwork.
The 2027 two-seater, by the numbers
From Kawasaki's spec page:
- 250 hp. Kawasaki notes this is measured to ISO 4106 and can read higher than an SAE figure.
- Price: base MSRP $32,899, plus a $1,995 destination charge. The Limited eS is $41,399.
- Size: overall width 74.0 in, wheelbase 101.0 in, curb weight 2,218 lb, ground clearance 16.1 in standard and 16.9 in max.
What 74 inches means in Colorado
At 74 inches, the H2 is a full-size vehicle on Colorado's maps. It rides full-size routes and jeep roads, and it doesn't fit the 50-inch trails or the White River's 62-inch trails. The same is true of every sport UTV built to 64 inches (details here). Measure with everything you'll bolt on, because wider tires and offset wheels add up.
The short version
- New 2027 two-seater: it isn't in the recall. If the clutch question matters to you, get the dealer's answer in writing.
- Used or leftover 2026 four- or five-seater: do the VIN check and see the repair paperwork before you pay.
- Either one: in Colorado it rides full-size routes.
